🎨 How to color it

Try coral orange for the seahorse’s body, turquoise for the leafy sea plants, pearl blue for the bubbles, and sunny yellow for the oval spots. Use sharp colored pencils for the small spots, fin lines, and tail segments, then switch to smoother strokes on the wider neck and leaves. For extra sparkle, shade the bubbles from pale blue to white and make the seahorse’s curled tail alternate coral and peach.

The story behind this coloring page

Ketz and the Bubble Gate — Every day, Ketz counted the bubbles that popped from the warm sand vents: one, two, swish, three. Read the full story →

Every day, Ketz counted the bubbles that popped from the warm sand vents: one, two, swish, three. He had set himself a challenge—when thirteen bubbles rose at once, he would swim through the middle without grabbing a leaf. Usually, he practiced beside the tall sea plants, where the water smelled salty-sweet and the fronds brushed his cheeks like ribbons.

Until one day, thirteen bubbles burst up in a shining ring. Ketz kicked forward, heart thump-thumping, but a sneaky current shoved the ring sideways into the kelp maze. Because of that, he had to twist after it between long leaves. Because of THAT, his curled tail bumped a sleeping crab’s shell with a clack. “No backing out now,” Ketz whispered.

The bubble gate wobbled smaller. Ketz tucked his chin, flicked his tiny fin, and zipped through just before pop-pop-pop! The crab opened one eye and clicked applause. Next time you spot those bubbles around Ketz, can you count whether thirteen rose from the warm sand vents?
