🎨 How to color it

Color the capybara warm chestnut brown, the jack-o’-lantern bright pumpkin orange, the bat soft charcoal, and the crescent moon pale yellow. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big capybara body and pumpkin sections, then add the tiny stars and gravestone marks with a sharp crayon point. Try making the pumpkin face glow golden so it looks extra cozy against a deep purple Halloween sky.

The story behind this coloring page

Ona and the Patient Pumpkin — Under the cool hilltop moon, Ona carried a hollow pumpkin to the old stone path. She wanted a lantern before the little bat’s bedtime round, but her pumpkin stayed dark. Read the full story →

Under the cool hilltop moon, Ona carried a hollow pumpkin to the old stone path. She wanted a lantern before the little bat’s bedtime round, but her pumpkin stayed dark. Tap, tap, tap went her paw on the shell. Nothing. The wind smelled like dry leaves and rain. “I can wait,” Ona whispered, and sat so still that even the grass stopped tickling her toes.

A tiny scritch came from inside the pumpkin. Ona lifted the stem lid, and there, where nobody had thought to look, soft glow-moss curled like green-gold yarn. She tucked it behind the pumpkin’s smile, and warm light poured over the stones. Ever since then, pumpkins on quiet October paths keep a hidden glow for anyone patient enough to wait. Next time you see Ona beside her smiling pumpkin, can you spot the bat finishing its bedtime round under the cool hilltop moon?
