Under the cool hedge, Oona set out with her smallest leaf cup. She wanted one sweet sip of morning dew from the tallest flower at the garden edge. The grass brushed her paws, swish-swish, and one thorny burr stuck to her belly. Oona tugged it free and kept going, slow and soft, until the flower’s yellow face nodded above her nose.

Just then, a tiny bee landed with a tired buzz. “May I have a drop?” he asked. Oona looked at her empty cup, then at the shining dew. She tipped the cup. The bee drank, then danced in a bright little circle, shaking gold dust onto Oona’s spines. When she hurried home, the whole hedge smelled like warm honey.
