🎨 How to color it

Color Avery’s letters sky blue, the bird soft robin brown, the twig nest golden tan, and the eggs pale cream. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big letters and clouds, then try a sharper pencil for the tiny feather lines and crisscrossed twigs. Add a secret sunrise glow behind the nest, fading from peach to yellow between the nearest clouds.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Avery Keeps Sky Nests — Under the hushy morning clouds, Avery set herself a challenge: help the cloud-bird’s cold eggs before the first sunbeam rang the wind chimes. Read the full story →

Under the hushy morning clouds, Avery set herself a challenge: help the cloud-bird’s cold eggs before the first sunbeam rang the wind chimes. She climbed the tall white letters of her name with a pocket full of wool fluff, but the breeze kept puff-puff-pushing it away. The nest smelled like rain and dry twigs. “Just one warm bit,” Avery whispered, tucking the fluff where nobody would notice.

A gray cloud slid close, hiding her hands. Then another came, and another, until the sky made a soft wall around the nest. The bird gave one tiny chirp, not loud enough for thanks, and settled over the eggs. Ever since, cloud-birds build their nests above Avery’s name, where clouds gather to keep secret helpers secret. Next time you see those puffy clouds around the nest, can you guess where Avery tucked the warm bit?
