Under the moon-blue roof of the toy-town training lot, Dottie rolled the little fire truck past the cones. She wanted every thirsty rescue helper to find a cool sip after practice, but the water jugs clunked and sloshed too loudly. Clunk, slosh, clunk! “Shh,” Dottie whispered, her helmet smelling like rubber and warm sunshine. No one was supposed to know who shared the drinks.

Beside the curb stood a round hydrant everyone used for drills. Dottie tapped its cap, and it popped open with a tiny ping. Inside was a secret hollow, just big enough for three paper cups and a note: FOR WHOEVER IS TIRED. She tucked everything in, shut the cap, and padded away before the wheels came rumbling back.
