🎨 How to color it

Color the heart-shaped cactus mint green, the cheek ovals rosy pink, the pot sunny yellow with black polka dots, and the flower lavender. Use chunky crayons to fill the big cactus lobes and pot bands first, then dot the tiny spines with a darker green. Try making the floating hearts alternate pink and peach, with the biggest center heart a brighter red.

In the warm windowsill nook, Nella stretched toward a lavender petal that had fallen just beyond her pot. The sand smelled dusty-sweet, and the floor looked far away. She wanted that petal for the little bare spot near her top, but her roots gave a soft tug-tug.

Nella leaned out. Plip—one pebble rolled from her pot. A tiny love-moth fluttered up, its wings shaped like paper hearts. “May I rest?” it whispered. Nella held still, prickles trembling. The moth brushed her side, lighter than breath, and left a lavender flower tucked there.

Nella eased back home, missing one pebble but wearing something better than the fallen petal. Next time you see the hearts above her, can you spot the brave place where Nella held still?
