The mother cat’s wide, steady eyes seem to be watching something just beyond the blanket’s edge. Can you spot the secret rule of Mabel’s newest game? She invented Whisper Nest while her two kittens, Pip and Poppy, were getting sleepy between her paws. The curled tail marked the starting line, the big paw pads were the safe islands, and the leaf shapes on the blanket were hidden paths. To win, a kitten had to open one eye, touch a paw to a leaf, and guess which whisker twitched first. Mabel never said the prize, but the kittens suspected it was one more warm cuddle.
