The apple tucked into the side pocket looks like a snack, but its little leaf is pointing straight toward trouble. Above the chalkboard, the round clock ticked twice, and the classroom globe gave a tiny wobble before anyone noticed the cat. Milo tightened his backpack straps, lifted his paw, and met a paper star that had slipped off the wall and begun spinning like a compass. “Follow me!” it flashed. Past the bookshelves, under the globe, and toward the window with the schoolhouse view, Milo bounded after it. The star landed on the eraser tray, revealing a hidden chalk map to recess.
