🎨 How to color it

Layer amber ocher and burnt sienna through the giraffe’s paneled body, use deep emerald and sage on the broad split leaves, and make the round sun ring glow in marigold and pale lemon. Because the giraffe is packed with tiny triangles, spirals, dots, and stripe panels, use sharp colored pencils and move section by section from the outer contour inward. Try giving each neck panel a subtle warm-to-cool shift, so the stained-glass pattern seems to catch light from the sun ring behind it.

The story behind this coloring page

At the glassleaf stand, Arlen invented a game: count how many sun-splinters could rest on his coat before the wind moved them. Warm light clicked through the leaves; dust smelled faintly of rain. He held still, curious past comfort, while gold, umber, and green shapes slid over his neck and flanks. “Stay,” he whispered, not to himself, but to the light. The sun answered by fitting each bright piece into place, soft as a quilt laid over a sleeping room. Ever since, giraffes have carried those broken panes of afternoon, so curiosity can run over them and never reach the end.
