🎨 How to color it

Color the tall 1 sky blue, the rounded 0 sunny yellow, and the ten circles in cherry red and orange. Use chunky crayons or washable markers for the wide number shapes, and don’t worry if little hands color past the thick black lines. For a fun counting twist, make each circle a tiny “wait spot” by adding one small dot after you color it.

In the hush-hush pebble alcove, Oona lined up nine smooth stones on her soft mat. She had set herself a secret challenge: find one more stone and tap all ten without waking the dozy moths.

Tiptoe, tiptoe, she left the warm mat for the echo shelf. The shelf smelled dusty and cool. Her toes met a cold patch, and one tiny stone rolled away—plink! Oona waited. No moth fluttered.

“Shh, little stone,” she whispered, tucking it with the others. Tap, tap, tap—ten quiet taps at last. Next time you see the ten round spots, can you keep Oona’s secret count?
