Under a morning sky as clean as cool milk, Jovie touched her nose to the tall blossom-heart sign and counted the daisies carved there. One, two. She had made herself a little challenge: before the cloud shaped like a spoon drifted away, she would whisper one wish where the sky could hear it. Her knees felt wobbly as reeds, though nothing was pushing her except the hush.

Beside the path, the wood smelled sweet and sun-warmed. Jovie lifted her chin. “I wish to say hello first,” she breathed. The words came out tiny, like a moth landing.

Then the heart answered with the same tiny voice. Not magic—another young giraffe had been standing on the far side, making the same challenge. For a moment, both blinked at the two daisies between them, and the quiet felt enormous.

“Hello,” said Jovie, a little louder. “Hello,” said the other. Overhead, the spoon-cloud sailed on, and the next time you spot those two daisies, you’ll know where Jovie left her first tall wish.
