🎨 How to color it

Color the cabin logs honey brown, the snowy roof pale blue, the Christmas tree deep pine green, and the wreath with bright red berries. Use sharp colored pencils for the small ornaments, brick chimney, windowpanes, and snowflake arms, then fill the wider roof and path with smoother strokes. Try making the chimney smoke fade from soft gray near the bricks to almost white as it curls into the starry sky.

“Quick, before the next snowflake lands!” whispered Lena, tapping the porch rail with one mitten. She had just invented Snowflake Trail, a game where every winter shape outside her cabin told the next gentle move. First, she pointed to the wreath on the front door: whoever found the bow could take three tiptoe steps toward the tree. Can you find that bow tucked at the top of the round wreath?

Next, Lena chose the decorated evergreen beside the porch. “Pick one round ornament, then follow the garland down to the lowest branch,” she said softly, as if the candles in the windows were listening. Can you spot the tiny hanging ornament near the tree’s bottom left side? That was the “sleepy bell,” the place where everyone had to pause and breathe in the piney cold.

For the final turn, Lena looked up past the snowy roof to the stars and flakes. “Find the snowflake nearest the chimney smoke,” she said, smiling. When her brother found it, they both stood still, warm cabin behind them, winter all around, letting the game end as quietly as falling snow.
