🎨 How to color it

Color the bat soft charcoal gray, the belly pale lavender, the party hat sunny yellow with teal stripes, and the balloon cherry red. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big wings and balloon, then switch to a sharpened pencil for the hat dots and tiny toes. Try making the balloon lighter on the shiny patch so it looks round and floaty beside the bat.

Under the lantern hall, Jory tied a balloon string to his small claw and invented the Quiet Puff Game. He wanted to hear the secret sound inside the balloon, but the party drums went boom-boom and the paper hats went crinkle-crack.

So Jory waited. He held his wings wide and very still. At last the hall grew hushed, and the balloon made one tiny fffip. A cool, round patch of moonlight popped onto its side. “There you are,” Jory whispered. Ever since, bat balloons keep one pale shine for anyone patient enough to notice; can you find Jory holding the first quiet puff?
